The Moroccan Garden

Royal Wells Estate -Tunbridge Wells

Having downsized from a property where we had a two-acre garden and wide-ranging countryside views we were concerned that our typical new-build property had only a 5m by 10m fenced garden with a small paved patio and the rest was laid to poor quality turf. As we spent a number of years living in the Middle East and prior to moving enjoyed a visit to Marrakech we wanted to create a peaceful sanctuary reminiscent of a Moroccan Riad. Following a consultation with Victoria we felt she understood perfectly what we were hoping to achieve. Victoria with the help of Andrew and his team have transformed this limited area into a wonderful space that stimulates the senses and through the folding french doors provides a natural extension to our home. Her use of bold colours, mixed planted and potted flora, and the gentle trickling water feature has turned what was an uninspiring plot into somewhere we love to sit, eat and entertain. Victoria’s use of colour and attention to detail has satisfied our requirements for space. We now feel perfectly at ease in our hidden retreat, that benefits from warming sunshine in the summer and will provide a sheltered spot in winter, lit by our myriad of sparkling Arabic lanterns. We cannot thank Victoria and Andrew enough for giving us our little piece of Marrakech.

Shukran (thank-you) to you both !

Grey Green Garden

We downsized last year to a small house with a small garden. Our house is situated on a new estate and therefore all the gardens are designed in a similar way; a strip of grass with some decorative paving around it, very generic. My husband and I envisioned our garden to become an extension of the house, another living space to enjoy together, and with friends.Planning a small garden is harder than planning a large garden, the whole project of designing and landscaping seemed daunting to us. Therefore we considered ourselves lucky to find Victoria Truman and her team already working on gardens in our road. We were hugely impressed by the balance and style of the gardens that Victoria designed, and finished with her team. Victoria and I discussed style, colour, materials, and achieving the right balance between the house and garden. She explained that all areas of the garden needed equal attention, and she cleverly managed a simple and coherent design throughout. I found her ideas refreshing and interesting, and our garden looks absolutely stunning! We have thoroughly enjoyed the summer in our garden with family and friends, and we have received many compliments for Victoria’s design.

Dear Victoria,

Just a quick note to let you know how thrilled I am with your work here. I had originally been dithering about the garden until I saw your card by accident on Alison Boulters desk (the customer relations officer with Berkeley Homes). My mind was made up in an instant. I now have a living extension to my home which is an absolute joy daytime and nighttime (thanks to the lighting). The design and its execution simply could not have been better and have left me with a garden that gives me so much pleasure.

Yours,

Roger Tunn
